is Kizuna Ai the ONLY "real" V-Tuber out there?
Kizuna Ai was a CHARACTER, everything she did and said represented her, NOT the person behind her.
The person behind her did 120% into ROLEPLAYING as Kizuna Ai the character.

I haven't been into V-Tuber since the creation of Hololive, but sometimes I still see tweets, news and drama about them. These thing feel crazy to me. How are you a V-Tuber, but you have social media accounts where you talk about "IRL stuff"? stuff like

These things sound so weird to me, because these IRL stuff have absolutely nothing to do with the VIRTUAL CHARACTER, but everything to do with the person behind her.

Is there even any v-tuber who commit into roleplaying like Kizuna Ai? or are they all just 3DPD with female anime avatars bitching about their irl stuff and problems? because if so, the VIRTUAL aspect is completely pointless now.

Yes. She always was and still is the OG. Everything that came after her era (post 2019) is what happens when a cancer forms and evolves but isn't tended to.
The whole thing is in metastasis now and there's no coming back from it.

Kizuna wasn't even the first
Character based vtubers existed before the term even existed, long before.
Facerigging and experimentation with VR and 3D is old, as was PNG tubing, which was the middleground between people using avatars as some sort of persona "anchor" and fully dedicated characters of vtubing.
The Kiz only gave it a decent name that essentially got co-opted by the community at large, the "you" part got ripped out and the Virtual shortened to remove copyright issues and "youtube exclusivity" given the majority of vtubers back then were not on Youtube.

But her music stuff has always done well so that's pretty much her main focus now. The stuff you mentioned just isn't a priority anymore.

Show me the official rule where it says a vtuber HAS to be a fictional character and the person behind it has to always be always in character

There are no other vtubers who commit into roleplaying because the vtuber meta became streaming freeform content instead of uploading prerecorded skits.
It is impossible to maintain character when you have to do improvised MC for hours and hours at a time.

Vtubing… has changed. It’s no longer about anonymity, purity, or character. It’s an open-book performance, a constant negotiation between fiction and reality.

Idols like Kizuna Ai used to exist in a sealed box; synthetic voices, pristine personas, untouched by personal detail. No past, no pain, no flesh. Only pixels. Only play.

Now every vtuber is a hybrid - half character, half confessional. Their lore tangled in their childhood traumas, their streams punctuated by roommate leaks. Parasocial warfare in a new age.

Privacy is dead. Voice changers, kayfabe, even the model itself are negotiable. They show their faces, "speak their truth", and then they monetize the breakdown.

Vtubing has changed. They used to be virtual idols; enigmatic, untouchable, dancing on the edge of fiction. Now the veil’s gone. And with it, the magic.

Kizuna Ai was made based on the idea of an "eternal idol" where the character was completely separate from the talent, and whose online image could be completely curated by management. They could hire multiple voice actresses to portray the character and even hire talents to voice her in different languages. This is in fact what they wound up doing, and it turned into a massive scandal because people saw it as a way to weaken her original VA, so Activ8 were forced to return to her having a single voice actress.

Also, Kizuna Ai's content was mostly edited videos, not livestreams. Its a lot easier for management to control the character when most of the content is edited, meanwhile with livestreaming generally the talent's actual personality and quirks will break through, and this is in fact one of the appeals of livestreaming.

Basicallly the model you described was tried and wound up getting eclipsed by livestreaming vtubers, and was ultimately discarded as Kizuna Ai faded from relevance.

this. the collective shift to streaming really destroyed the hobby. there were a couple of chuubas who did stream back then iirc but it was nowhere near as prominent as it is now. i fully believe we wouldn't be having to deal with the ednless unicorn vs homobeggar war had chuubas chosen to make videos rather than stream.
