AI is telling me that superchatting through a phone, be it Android or Apple, incurs an EXTRA 30% fee on top of YouTube's 30% fee.
Is this true?

I can find that it's true for Apple, but even Android?

Yeah, it's logic is 'all apps on Google play pay the Google play tax, even YouTube'.
But I can't find anybody saying it's actually the case.

It's not the case for youtube on android. They just take 30% there. Youtube on iPhone is different though because Google takes a cut as usual and then apple does too.

It’s an extra cost on top. For example, sending an australian akasupa on desktop, I can choose to send $100 charged through my card. If I want to send an akasupa on my iPhone, the payment is charged through the apple store and is locked in at $159.99. Apple charges a cut and both balances also get tax (GST) applied.

That's what the AI suggested. But the app is more convenient to use on the phone.
If using YouTube through the browser, you have to force desktop mode in order to comment on live streams/superchat.

I see, so on Apple, you pay more for the same super chat.
But on Android, superchatting 100 will charge one hundred, even through the YouTube app.
But this doesn't tell me if Google Play is taking another 30% on top of YouTube's 30%. Although it does suggests it doesn't.

But doesn't Google play charge apps a tax as well? Like, if I spend ten dollars in a game I got from Google play, google play takes three dollars.
Which would have to apply to YouTube, even though it's owned by Google. But then maybe it doesn't /because/ it's owned by Google.

Try seeing if your oshi has an alternative payment method like patreon, streamlabs, fansly etc.
If its a corpo then find their rm. Sucks that you won't get your message read but she'll get a bigger cut.

I don't mind thirty percent, but fifty/sixty percent is too much. If it's true that Google play takes a cut on top of YouTube.

Yes it's true, if you play through the playstore youtube app Google will take an extra 30%.

Website: SC $10 -> $10 reach youtube -> creator gets $7

APP: SC $10 -> google takes $3 -> $7 reach youtube -> creator gets ~$4.60

Yes. LMAO. All purchase from within Phone, iphone, android, or within steam or other platforms incur 30% fees. Apple, Google, Steam, Epic (lesser amount, I think like 5-10%), etc.

https://9to5mac.com/2020/09/02/developers-highlight-more-anomalies-in-apples-30-cut/

There is a huge legal fight going on in US/EU about Apple store fees. They had a legal fight and EU said Apple must allow third party stores to bypass Apple 30% fee. Instead Apple decided to charge 30% again. EU took them to court AGAIN. And is now facing multi billion dollar fines, daily fines, etc.

Well, yeah, that's Apple. I already confirmed Apple's extra 30% on top of YouTube's 30%.
I'm wondering if Google Play does too.

According to Youtube's site the streamer gets 70% of the revenue Google receives from superchats. So that would mean they get 70% of the total paid minus sales tax and CC fees on web and android, and it's only iOS that has a shittier cut
On the other hand you'll notice Twitch sub prices are higher on mobile than on web for both Android and iOS because Google is taking a cut there, so Twitch jacks the price to compensate
