Is the majority of vtuber revenue actually generated by stereotypical basement dwelling losers? Maybe I'm falling for the meme here but "unicorn maxing out his parent's credit card" actually seems like a possibility. I think unicorns have to operate at least somewhat successfully in the real world, unless they really are basement dwelling losers and CGDCT/GFE vtubing collapses in a decade (or at least the kind that does events as expensive as Hololive's) because of investment decisions made that assumed most of their revenue was coming from people that wouldn't be broke as soon as their parents died and stopped working at jobs.
I remember when Shiori collabed with Jurard and anons seemed to think she was gonna earn a lot less because of losing a large quantity of novelites instead of because the supposed parasocial unicorns that make up 0.1% of her fans and 15% of the revenue got mad she broke the illusion of being their girlfriend.
Hell, I'm welcome to discussion about vtubers that aren't from Hololive because I've heard that Holostars fans that spend money consist of "obese women with their dad's credit card" based on them not showing up to conventions.
I guess I'll start with this: What's the most important part of the fanbase to cater to, classified by how much they spend? Spenders that rank in the top 1%? Top 0.01%? Top 20%?
Not really related, but I promise this isn't a bait thread: It's something that's been bouncing inside my head for a few months now, and I also have some less inflammatory thread topics I might post later.
