I'm pretty sure it was the exact same crypto bro thumbnail as the time Kronii and a few others had when they got hacked. Basically they opened a PDF in an email sent by the scammer pretending to be a potential sponsor, and then the scammers have access to cookies and use that as a way to get onto the Google/YT account.

Basically being tech illiterate which is something that seems to be increasing for some unknown reason - I've come across some 65+ year olds who are more tech aware than a lot of gen z, and alpha.
