I would hold back on concluding that she has Dissociative Identity Disorder. We could speculate that repeated trauma occured back when she was young at the Philippines which is likely the risk factor, but I don't really see her being a system. Switching alters on command is an incredibly difficult skill to learn and I doubt Akai Haato has the tools to develop that and to even utilize it for streaming, as seen from her downward spiral. Haachama is really just another character she is playing. A strong indicator of DID and OSDD is whether they have any sort of amnesia, especially since alters have different memory continuities and so they cannot access each other's memories unless communication between them has been developed. Akai Haato and Haachama are too cognizant of each other's happenings. I at least couldn't detect any discrepancies, the established lore is too seamless. Amnesia could also come as repressed memories, as seen with CPTSD patients where they have huge chunks of timeline missing in their head like not remembering their childhood. It's a weak argument but Akai Haato had a lot of stories to tell. Also, DID is a hidden disorder. The nature of the disorder is to hide itself, from itself. It doesn't want the traumatized alters to be discovered, hence systems switch to protect these alters. People who are diagnosed with DID often deny it, in fact denying it is part of the diagnostic entry. They would also often ask whether they are faking it, and if they have to ask, that is not pretending. Akai Haato is obviously not hiding Haachama and she is even loud about it. I doubt the COEXIST arc is truly about integrating her alters or achieving a state of co-consciousness because doing that live on air is just reckless. It is just kayfabe.

That is not all to dismiss her fragmentation of her self, but just to disprove she has DID. Her moving to the Philippines, having a dysfunctional family, being an exchange student to Australia, being bilingual, balancing the idol and student life, being part of the youngest and most senior in Hololive, these would destabilize anyone's sense of identity. I daresay this contributes towards CPTSD, rather than DID or OSDD. (The trauma should also occur prior the ages 6-9 for DID and OSDD to develop since these are the ages when your identity starts to unify and if that is disrupted...)

What is heavily observed in the transcripts around here is that she has Schizophrenia. I don't know much about it but there's one particular difference between DID and Schizophrenia. The voices you hear in DID is inside your head, while the voices you hear in Schizophrenia is outside your head. I only read books about DID to self-diagnose and don't really know much about Schizophrenia except that it's incurable and could likely get worse, which is why I'm stressing over Haachama!

This changed my perception a lot. TLDR; She's actually crazy delusional, and she also has a confused hurting human inside. The stories or her past look pretty consistent and true, but it's clear that she is quite a troublemaker herself (mostly harmless and genuinely non-malicious) which leads to the consequences, which she judges through very distorted paranoid lens, and she completely fails to understand how her own behavior contributes to her problems. Her childhood is rocky and her current environment non-ideal in many ways. I still believe drugs and hospitalizations have caused substantial damage to her in the past years and I pray she finds a healthy stability with less drugs, and a real friend or lover who loves her in a way that truly reaches her, because in her current state she's miserable and lonely, and it just makes me want to hug her and treat her gently and not like a problem to be handled like most people do.

Anyways. Want to go back to Haachama. You can see she's trying to play ball in good faith with Hololive, she has a playlist entry called "Honest Talks" (with a single video entry) where she talks about her experience at the company and asks it not to be clipped. You can see she's trying hard to be cooperative and hard-working and trying to get some understanding out of it. I'm going to cut a little of the transcript, I hope you understand the circumstances.

When you feel helpless, you take radical measures. For me, I felt like a sacrificial lamb. And in most ways I was. I got crucified for speaking out in the wrong channels (not public btw) and sent home. The alternative was worse. My replacement got blown up a month later, I don't want to talk about that. But I wasn't trying to betray anybody. I put my life on the line for that mission in every sense of the word. I just wanted to be listened to because I saw something going wrong and me pissing my life away for nothing. Sometimes you're in a lose-lose situation. That's life.

Back to Haachama. I'm pretty sure she felt she saw something going wrong, and if she could have addressed it in a less disruptive manner she would have. She's leaving space for her own bias too. Even in the nanoblock stream she did that. So I don't know what happened in a month. Obviously her mind changed a lot. l have the feeling she decided she needed to pick a fight she can't win, brave of her but tragic to watch. She's someone who's not afraid to jump on the fucking grenade. You love her for it but goddamn I wish she'd found another way. Just my 2 cents, she knows her situation better than I do. I hope she can speak on it one day, from a better place, when it's all water under the bridge. As for Hololive, it is what it is. Some of you probably know that saying too.
