the thing is that all of the metrics are accounting for that, even with lurkers/bots/whatever counted twitch viewers still had much deeper wallets per individual view than viewers on other platform. the same streamer with a viewcount display of 1k instead of 2k after the change will still be responsible the same 100 sell-throughs or whatever. Except with the way twitch fucked the metrics without actually providing proof the actual streamers just have to rely on rumor and hearsay to prove that their audience is the same audience.

I'm not going to namedrop them but a streamer i watch had 130 viewers at best before the change and 110 after it. There are like 5-12 active chatters at most.
If they dropped by 50%+ whoever complains either had people leave or someone bot them with multiple tabs.

Her averages are down because she had a garbage model she used for nearly all of October and the audience for spooky stuff on Twitch was more spread out given everyone was playing horror games. Mythos is also a debuff given there are negative rumors about them given all the graduations this year. People (brands, streamers, as well as viewers) do not want to invest in a streamer who might not even be active under that same IP next year.

Twitch doesn't give a fuck about number monkeys.
Amazon has bought it like a decade ago and it hasn't been profitable even a single year.
All they care about is advertisement money, so they stopped counting people that are inactive for long times, using adblocks, using 3-rd party players as real viewers.
Most likely because some top advertisement dude came to twitch and said that advertisers pay them x amount for y amount of views / potential interactions, but the actual stats show that it's way off than twitch represents, and it's because of previously mentioned reasons that makes people that are not actually looking at the screen being counted as monetized viewers.
So twitch now only counts people that are most likely actually looking at the screen and seeing the ads as the viewers (aside from subs and twitch turbo). They want to mid max ads revenue/stats and make twitch finally profitable.

I'm a newer streamer with an average of 30-35 viewers per stream, started in Sept this year. Whenever I run 3 mintues of adds between matches my viewer count rises to 50-65 and once ads finish it drops back down to 30-35 whatever it was before ads played. You and I both know I'm not doubling my audiance for the ad watching experience where I brb/yap until they're done.
It really sucks for us smaller streamers.
