Rift of the Nerodancer is a huge step down from Crypt of the Necrodancer and Cadence of Hyrule. It wants to be a rhythm game but makes it absolutely tedious in the way they handle the button inputs. Instead of just remembering where the beat is, you have to first parse whatever fucking monster shows up. It's annoying, it's tedious, and somehow more infuriating than Crypt who you can at least get a spear and deal with 90% of enemies without ever getting close and if you wanted more challenges there are tons of more characters with gimmicks that'll make you want to tear your hair out. I wanted to like it, but as a general game it is not good and it is not something I'd even recommend to Rhythm game fans.
