capes are a draco reptilian custom passed onto humans because their royals have wings that look like capes when folded in

I'm glad I witched all 110 episodes.
Kino to the highest degree.
the character development something else.
it felt like I knew every character .
if only Kircheis were here.

men aren't men any more.
Zoomers literally think hanging out with male friends is gay.
no joke, they think that.

just finished reading the first book and it's surprisingly one-to-one with the show, far as i remember last watching it a decade ago, plus literary effects (dramatic environmental descriptions, mindreading and explicit ironies)
was expecting dense sci-fi, got space opera not-so-light novel

Isn't it an actual REAL novel? Also, how'd you like the first chapter being nothing but info dump, or was that just the og jap version I read?

felt nostalgic for those scenes in the anime, which feels part historical documentary part political drama
it's perhaps more digestible on revisiting
wish the english version came with original japanese covers
Anonymous No.5864264 [Report]

Seems like such a bold choice to start your story that way. Especially since it's such a hard sell for people, "historical space opera" is already niche as it is. Maybe reader retention wasn't an issue back then.

I've listened to the first 3 via audiobook and the only real change I noticed was around Reinhard and Westerland

>Isn't it an actual REAL novel?
They are. Novels and short stories.
A lot of people make the mistake of thinking if it's got an anime adaptation, it must be a light novel by default, when LNs are more like YA books.

>>5864263
>wish the english version came with original japanese covers
I wish any edition other than the original came with the Kato covers. Even the 40th anniversary edition uses the newer Hoshino covers, which is what the English version also uses.

>Isn't it an actual REAL novel?
It's a light novel, but not quite as "light" as what currently runs under that label.
The English Haikasoru release is decent, but I guess these days I'd get the Japanese version instead (日本語でおk).

Og. Pretty sure og was heavily influenced by the bitter experiences of war veterans as such mundane things as tiredness and raggedness gets put far, far greater emphasis than in the remakes, which seem to have forgotten that you don't get the luxury of sleeping or resting for days on end when things are sliding out of control. In og characters often have that "the kind of tired sleep won't fix" look or expression to them later on in the show that remakes don't.

Original but also the other seasons

I don’t get why 90% of people don’t seem to know there are more episodes than 110 of the first seasons, there’s like 200 episodes total made by the same people at the same level of quality

You get to see Reinhard’s childhood as well

Lore accurate. In LoGH, there was a major war that took place between two global powers in their distant past (our near future), who used nukes to MAD each other into non-existence. Brisbane was one of the only major cities to survive and ended up becoming the capital of the new post-war unified government.

The pentagon is also the symbol of the Free Plants Alliance and the P.K.C as pictured there (Patriotic Knight Corps) is a pseudo military organization operating as secret police in the Free Planets Alliance
as to what it actually means the Japanese probably looked at the Pentagon building and decided it was very war themed

is there a good dub or should I just suck it up and give myself a headache with subs?
Anonymous No.5873039 [Report]
>>5872887
The OVAs were never professionally dubbed, beyond two episodes in the middle as a pilot-test. It's sub only.
The remake was partially dubbed, but I wouldn't recommend watching the remake over the OVA.

the remake has a faster pacing, if I am not mistaken, I found that it lacked buildup and time to appreciate the lore
