I absolutely abhor violence and have never in my life hit anyone else first, but guess what? If someone insults me, my wife, my family, or anyone infront of me, then I make sure they are missing at least 1 tooth to remember not to do it again.

Just last month I was driving my wife's car (she is always telling me when she drives to work random guys high beam her from behind, drive 2 inches behind her in the rain, and do other stupid shit) as she was in the passenger seat and I never make her drive me anywhere (my car was at the panel beaters), and some dipshit drove literally 2 inches behind me in a Ford F150 (she drives a Mitsubishi Mirage) and thought I was a woman driver and just turned his high beams on and left them on, despite the fact I was doing the speed limit, all her lights were working, and I wasn't in the passing lane.

When I pulled up to the set of lights I got out and walked to his car, he immidiately tried to wind his window up and I grabbed his window with both hands and smashed it straight out of the door (I'm 6'4" and strength train 5 days a week) and I reached in, ripped his keys out of the ignition, and threw them into the bushes off the road.

The guy immidiately realized he fucked up and was begging for forgiveness and said he was just messing around. I said "so if that was my wife you did that to, it'd be fine?" and he tried to reach for something so I knocked him clean out, walked back to my wife's car, then drove off.

Do you think he will ever do that to another driver ever again? No. People doing stupid shit like that on the road gets people hurt or worse. Driving slowly to the police station does nothing.

As a definition, it feels like it makes slightly more sense than the definitions most people use around here: where you either can't afford the standard of living (i.e. enough floor space to raise a child completely indoors) or can't afford the things it takes be independently productive to an impressive degree, and not get immediately insulted for having by someone who bought something better, or just not being self employed.
Of course, if you use his definition, then the idea that it's a major societal concern it actually breaks down somewhat when you start considering mass international trade (that is, is most of the real wage slavery talking place in China and India) and industrial automation or start wondering about what the laws of the past actually said you could do with your slaves and what kind of standard of living you actually had to provide them, or ways the costs of housing can be reduced.
