I watched the whole thing and didn't get what was the point in all that like, is the story social commentary or just some sci-fi stuff involving psychic powers and cosmo-technology or something? Its mostly social commentry. If you watch it again after watching the cutscenes from the game it might shed some light on things but there are still a load of deliberate loose ends and everything is up to interpretation

I also know very little about encoding videos though so any tips would be appreciated.
When a file is too big im just reencoding it with lower fps and bitrate (I lower the resolution if its waay too big) because its all I can really do to lower the file size

Its more comfortable laying down and I have a red light filter on it. Id use my pc if it was during the day but iv been mostly posting in these threads while trying to get tired enough to sleep and sitting up to use the computer would make me less sleepy.

I don't really know what to tell you because I don't know what settings your encoder allows, but the principles are quite simple. It's a function of bitrate + time, and you pick a resolution that doesn't look crunchy for that bitrate. It's not a guessing game, it's math. You usually don't have to mess with fps unless you really know what you're doing when qualitymaxxing.

Iv only tried a couple as iv just been lurking or posting webms I have saved since we got video boards here and only recently started making my own

I don't know about on the phone but on desktop there are some that let you set a target file size. Get yourself something where you don't have to guess or you're gonna have a bad time. Short of that you can get close with a lookup table.

I wouldn't think about the plot so much.
Lain (much like ABe-san's other works) is an experience, but to answer your question lain can be interpreted in a lot of ways,
lot of what you see in the anime is just a product of the era where technology was advancing at an unprecedented scale and internet was becoming more and more mainstream, so a lot of what you see is just the result of fear for the future and this new medium called the internet(Wired).
Lain can also be interpreted as a tale about loneliness in the digital age, as we can see lain slowly becoming more attached to wired and more detached from reality.
In any case you really shouldn't think about it too much as that's not what it's about, finish it (if you haven't already), watch the interviews with the authors and understand that not everything is for everyone.

Webm for bakas is ancient and uses vp8, which is an obsolete codec, I don't recommend it. You may like one of the other options linked in the guide, webm for lazys is a good GUI that supports file size constraints. More user friendly if you're uncomfortable with a python script.

Yeah I think if was just a fluke that it worked for that webm It hasnt worked since. Ill try other options, I was a bit disorented earlier and somehow didnt see that the guide had options other than webm-for-4chan. My brain was glitching out and I even hallucinated which is somewhat concerning but I feel better now.

Id reccomend watching it again but also bear in mind its deliberately confusing and thats part of the expirence. It reflects her state of mind and how she is losing grip on reality.
