Here's my social media site's current iteration. As usual I want your advice on how to improve it.

So basically the idea is that there are these main categories like "art" and "memes" and users can create their own sub-communities under these categories. In these communities you make threads like on 4chan.
I've changed the structure of the site around a million times and this is the current iteration.

"Posts" and "Tribes" button feel out of place in the center of the screen, maybe align it with the left edge of the post container
Same for the "Sakuracafe" label (I assume it's the tribe name or something), maybe make it align right instead
Alternatively instead of a header bar for the thread make it a sidebar, kind of like old internet forum posts

Try adding a left margin to the replies such that the thumbnails all align on the right edge

And as always, you need more padding lol
-post contents
-reply user info and timestamp
-sidebar icon and menu label

The dark mode color scheme looks good actually!

How about giving more privileges to the OPs? I believe that 4chan suffers from a lack of thread-specific moderation, e. g. porn and other clearly off-topic content being posted to threads when all what I want to do is talk about the given topic. I think that this could be dealt with by giving thread moderation privileges to the OP - he made the thread, after all. Reoccurring threads may need a different approach, but still, just about any plan is better than no plan I believe, as they can be improved upon.

>porn and other clearly off-topic content being posted to threads when all what I want to do is talk about the given topic

But this is like the best thing about 4chan.
I think the real issue is that the modern user demands a tailor made Internet experience. Nobody wants to see opinions or pictures they don't want to see.
People in 2004 were excited just to see anything on the Internet because it was new. Now people screech if there's something that doesn't give them dopamine.
There are only two ways to go about this:
>create custom made dopamine drip for everyone
>people need to accept reality

Continuing...

I sorta agree with your point though. OP did make the thread and it's not cool how a lot of people don't appreciate that being an OP is basically like taking the bullet for everyone else. The OP always puts himself, his emotions, his weak points etc. out there and a lot of people just wait for others to make threads so they can come and shit on them. The OP is the contributor, the content creator, the one that keeps the site alive. The OP deserves more credit, or more something at least. Lurkers and random "ok incel" commentators are a waste of space.

But there's of course another side to this story as well.. we don't actually want tyrant-like OP's either. At some point you must agree that the thread has become "public property". Others have made good posts in it, the conversation has evolved, and it's no longer a solo venture. There have been imageboards where the OP is capable of modifying or deleting his entire thread any time he wants. This was kinda handy but it resulted in a lot of OP's trolling people by making interesting threads and nuking them just as people invested in them and wrote long walls of text in them.

Surely there is a difference between on-topic discussion and just posting vaguely related things to the subject… the latter could be a topic in itself though I think. Regarding privilge abuse, assuming that there will be accounts, surely people will learn to avoid known thread nukers...

Thank you again, padding-kun.
I'll have to think long and hard about the padding thing because I always feel that the thread previews are taking too much space as it is. You want to fit as much information in one page as possible.

I used to have the tribe indicator (?) right after the poster's name like this, but I felt that there was too much stuff on the left.
Especially since modern posts are kinda short, all content tends to be on the left side of the page.

You probably could just have OP flag stuff that he "doesn't like" and then an actual moderator can look at it/approve it. If it keeps track of cookies and stuff, then moderators can give OPs that don't go power crazy more power/automaticaly approve it.
That's getting away from website design though.

That looks really good, but maybe have "Arts and Cultures" in the header right of the AAVA logo if OP (of this thread) wants more room for the content

OP here. That looks like a lot of padding to me. I dunno, it may be one of those things where I need to let my eyes get used to it. The purpose of that page is to show condensed previews of threads, and when you open the thread, the posts are considerably larger.

I'm currently working on the "tribes / posts" buttons (picrel).
And yeah, category description text could be at the top like that one anon said. It originally used to be there.
