I am OP I made my own attempt i got bored, theirs looks better but what I did is as follows:

Copy image as new layer.
Isolate just the woman skin in new layer
Everything else transparent
Do color saturation/hue on the skin layer only until she looks black.
Then i cut the hair but it didnt look like an afro

Took me an entire hour to do even this and it looks like shit because i dont understand photoshop

Keep editing, the more you do the better you'll get. Use tutorials for things you want to learn. Get familiar with the pen tool & masks.
