Hey /g/, I’m interested in learning cybersecurity and eventually becoming an ethical hacker. I want to use my skills to do good — like tracking criminals, exposing illegal activity, or working in digital defense.
I’m still at the beginning and don’t want to waste time on useless paths or make dumb rookie mistakes.
If anyone here is experienced — what should I focus on first? Any books, platforms (like CTFs), or resources you’d recommend? What mindset should I have, and what should I avoid?
Also — is this still a promising field, or is it getting too saturated?
Thanks in advance for any serious advice. I’m willing to work hard and do it right.
