I know I will encounter this scenario at some point. I had known other adults that are not allowed to use social media either at work or school or by their own parents. I'm leaving the neet life but I want to be as comfy as possible.

Don't use the default DNS you get back from DHCP on these networks. Use DoH or DoT or something end-to-end encrypted. By default, your DNS requests ("what IP does blockedsite.com resolve to?") are unencrypted and trivial to intercept and return false data for.

Also try Cloudflare's "browser experience security check page" which will test if your DNS is encrypted and your browser is using ECH
