i have an acoustic guitar and i'm planning to learn to play it properly. I tried last summer a bit, i learned basic cords but i struggled to switch between them and i forgot about it. I'm planning to take it on again. I don't know if it's a skill issue but i felt like the neck was too thick and my hands are fairly small so some cords felt harder to do. Is there an all encompassing guide that helps with this and some tips for ultra beginners. Thanks in advance

You probably have a spanish/nylon string guitar, acoustic/steel string guitars have thinner necks with a rod on the inside to compensate and I'm not sure but nylon string guitars also have more elevated action and so are overall harder to play. You can play the same music but it'll require more physical effort.

Do you know any music theory? What type of music are you aiming to play?

>it has a truss rod with an allen key,
Then yes, skill issue
And check out The Guitar Handbook by Ralph Denyer, it has a long list of chords and stuff.

i watched some tutorials and saw how easily people mute the E string especially while doing the C cord without accidentally muting the other E string with their palm like do

Seems it's just a matter of practice.
Start slowly and speed up and learn the moves.

Practice changing without strumming, just with the left hand. Notice what fingers stay in the same place, and make a conscious effort to keep that finger anchored; don't lift all your hand from the fretboard.

I recommend you drop the pick and use tour fingers if you plan on specializing on acoustic guitar

Don't listen to this fingernigger.
