HOW usually asks for an adjective or some descriptive answer.
>how do you like your pancakes?
>salty
>how are you feeling?
>tired
>how is it pronounced?
>with an accent on the last syllable
WHAT asks for a noun.
>what is it called?
>thingamajig
>what do you feel?
>anger
>what is your favourite colour?
>green

So for example a proper answer for "how do you call it" might be "loudly".
