I am attending Speech Therapy for my R sounds and I need a list of words that are like

perpendicular
world
parallel

that have the letters r and l in them since my therapist wants me to practice on words in which I need to move my tongue to the back of my mouth and to the front of my mouth.

I use these with my students frequently, /r/ and /l/ next to each other are tricky. Keep your tongue back and tight, try to touch the back part of your tongue near (but not quite touching) the roof of your mouth for the /r/, then try to keep your tongue elevated as you slide into the /l/, touching your tongue tip to the roof of your mouth. Think of it like a diphthong, like the vowel in "slide", your tongue moves there too.

If you want phrase or sentence level, you can type into ChatGPT "Give me a story about [x interest] prominently featuring /rl/ blends" and it'll spit one out. I'll make stores about Sonic or Labubu or whatever the kids are interested in all the time using that method. If you don't have it, you can tell me your interest and I'll make some for you. I'll monitor this thread for the next ~48 hours if you have any questions whatsoever, please feel free to ask. I like articulation therapy, it's probably my favorite form of speech-language therapy to work on with people. Enjoy!

I'm an artist. I'm a performance artist. I'm hired for people to fulfill their fantasies--their perpendicular parallel fantasies.
