The one topic no one talks about on /x/ is ethical and emotional development.
It's really unfortunate, because it's the door for actual spiritual growth and especially anons would benefit from it tremendously. When I started really practicing metta and honestly upholding five precepts, which are:
>do not kill
>do not steal
>do not lie
>do not engage in sexual misconduct
>do not do drugs / drink alcohol
I feel so much bettter when I do it. I also can see my erroneous mental habits and beliefs which affected my everyday life.
There is a simile about human, angel and hell being standing by the river. Human sees water as water, hell being sees water as lava and angel sees it as heavenly nectar. This is what I'm experiencing right now. I was bitter and critical, so almost everything and everyone appeared as ugly, threatening, stupid and repulsive to me. When I developed metta to somehow intensive degree I suddenly saw that it was just my perceptions. I'm also at ease and feel really blissful. Blissful is the word. Also beautiful - the intense sense of beauty is truly astounding.
If you want actual spiritual growth, try it. Don't forget about ethical conduct. Honesty is very important.

protip: dwell in that emotion 24/7, not just 15 minutes a day on your meditation session.
