I was wondering if there are methods to acquire knowledge through esoteric means. Say a solution to an unsolved math or science problem. Is this possible? If so, how? Are there downsides to know going about it this way?

assuming there was a way I doubt you'd get there without reading as much as you would if you studied math directly
