Not gonna lie, it's kind of freaky that our brains accept reality by default and it takes drugs to disconnect from reality and realize how fucking weird our existence is.

Why? The brain is meant to help these bodies survive and propagate this environment. It is in no way meant to discern truth - that is some weird thing we made up thousands of years later.
If the brain does better at its job by completely lying and misunderstanding truth - it will. It SHOULD.

Even weirder how you are essentially an immortal god while you lucid dream who can timetravel, travel the universe, talk with spirits, use magic, etc. and people just go 'meh', nothing about them is important.
I've seen a tens of thousands of years of history in dreams just wandering around visiting different realms.
