That’s just what an average prole has access to and can fuck around with, maybe even just making their AI content and profiles online for fun or as an experiment, let alone what governments, militaries, intelligence agencies might have access to or be doing, or have been doing for years potentially.

What's funniest about the newer dead internet theory discourse is that as much as it's real, it's also amplified and confused by a way more mundane thing that's not even in contention whether it's happening.
Internet user demographics have changed a lot, in the early 2000's small Nordic countries like Finland used to have a relatively big slice of the internet pie because that's where a lot of tech was coming from (This is why there's a lot of Finnish memes). The "world wide web" was actually mostly just North America and specific countries in Northern Europe.
In the last 5 to 10 years, there's been literally over a billion new users from around India and African countries. They now outnumber the old internet multiple times over. Sure, every major platform is full of AI comments but it's just as filled with random African villagers leaving short comments like "BEST Video!!!11" on every little thing they watch because they don't know internet etiquette. Whenever someone on youtube says "like, comment and subscribe" that's who it's for btw, everyone who has been on the platform for years knows that it'll just fuck up your feed and your algorithm, but these guys don't and there's a billion of them.
