Did Jesus the Christ really say you can’t kill your enemies or defend yourself in a life or death situation

Or is it misinterpreted

Yes but nobody is perfect or would be condemned for doing so. We're all only human.

The idea of just war is complete nonsense though. There's nothing Christian about it.

Who are the enemies of all mankind?

Total, deliberate and altogether malicious disregard for context.

"Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.” (Luke 22:36)

I find it hard to reconcile a literal interpretation of the verse you posted with Jesus sermons of peace, along with his example of nonresistance and the early churches example of nonresistance

Again, context. You can't study, let alone understand the bible (or anything else, really) without it.

“But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me.” (Luke 19:27)

This is from a parable. Your accusation of maliciousness and ignoring context is actually a confession.

That's a big misinterpretation. You have every right to defend yourself, your home, and those that can't defend themselves.

You just can't commit murder. There's a difference between shooting someone that breaks into your house and planning to shoot someone as they come out of their house.

You can't murder but you can defend yourself and others.

I'm not entirely certain what verses in the bible give people these ideas but that's not what I see when I read scripture.

Probably the parts where it says to love and do good for your enemies. Along with Jesus example and the examples of the early church (who don't seem to agree with your assertions here.)
