happy=good
food=good
safe=good
The issue is that we got smart enough to isolate the good mechanism and blast it with chemicals that hot wire the good part of your brain. So, why is this considered "bad"? Well, the moment you take drugs your brain is flooded with the most euphoric feeling it has ever felt leaving all the things the brain used to focus on null.
DRUG=GREAT BEST
happy=good
food=good
safe=good
So humans prioritize the best good through the brains need to desire the highest need. Eventually loosing focus on everything else but that best good. Which means necessities like shelter, food and mental wellbeing to slowly rot away.
So, the "bad" drugs inherently highjack dopamine receptors and fry them. Causing the world around you to become dull. They numb your senses and cause you to crave something that cannot fulfill all of your needs as a human or a functional member of your community.
This is not a bash against all drugs ever. Things like caffeine, sugar and morphine are used frequently in our society. Just as cocaine opium and meth were once used heavily in humanities past. Just know that if you abuse drugs, your focus might falter.
Keep frequent party goer, slave owner and STD riddled founding father Ben Franklin in mind with his famous quote:
"All things in moderation, including moderation."
