Eternal hell is mentioned exactly zero times in the Bible yet the majority of Christians believe in hell being a place of eternal torment.
Did they even read John 3:16?
> ...that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.
The only verse that I think could be used to justify eternal hell is Matthew 25:46
> Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.
Punishment is a bit vague though, and while it could be interpreted as eternal hellfire, I think simply dying and ceasing to exist forever is more consistent with other verses.
The Bible makes it clear that non believers will be sent to some sort of place of fire (Matthew 13:50) to be destroyed, that is where they are destroyed (Thessalonians 1:9). Destroyed being ceasing to exist (Matthew 10:28).
