I suppose it did. I don't wallow in it.
While I have often wished I had faith with a stronger foundation, I am more aware of how the world works and can shoot the shit with people of different beliefs.

I think Christianity is fine, I don't personally believe it but whatever. I can only point towards esoteric catholicism. Meister eckhart, saint Therese of Avila, important for you is the prayer of quiet, do that, that will lead to spiritual progress on the catholic path. And when you pray, pray with focus on the words. That is a practice which has been developed in the middle ages and is 100% catholic afaik. Hope this helps.
