Clockpunk and steampunk happened. They may be from another reality but it happened. Clockpunk is when they discovered perpetual motion. Steampunk is when they discovered zero point energy but only knew to boil water with it. Lets be real, you cant power massive machines with just springs and you cant have flying ships with tons of coal loaded aboard.
