Forget digging into a tradition. Hinduism and gnosticism both have the most truth especially Hinduism and the sadhu Sannyasi traditions. Read the upanishads and Shiva rahasya, read the gospel of Thomas. Shiva Gita as well. This will give you the infos about how to reach god and what to expect from the path. And from enlightenment.
