The Old Testament prophets prophesied his life and death. Jesus himself was sent to illuminate the path to salvation. Salvation means *really* understanding what he was talking about and taking it to heart, not just dutifully affirming some doctrinal point about his earthly manifestation that a human institution came up with later.
