when I was a kid, I used to believe there was a vampire under my bed. I came to believe that if I willingly offered some blood he would not take it and kill me in the process. I would puncture my leg with a thumb tack and dribble it into the cap of a water bottle and slide it under my bed. I stopped when my parents saw the dots and yelled at me.

The thing is, every morning the cap would be clean and empty like no blood had entered. What happened?

It was probably a "Boligo" or something like that, I don't remember. Imagine a tooth fairy but without teeth. It can't feed itself so it scares the victim into doing it.

Mosquitos or other bugs probably stole all your blood from right under your nose while you were asleep

I'm not going to say its not something supernatural, but I would look for a reasonable explanation before jumping to something supernatural.

Honduran legend They're basically like the ugly cousins of fairies.
They scare people by pretending to be bigger monsters, then feed on offerings.
They're not mortal; just ignore them and they'll starve to death.
