Seems to be like a "lucid dream" or more accurately like when you astral travel, ie out of body experience. People say it feels more real than this physical realm, probably because the consciousness/energy body/spirit isn't bound to a physical body in which reality is filtered through our senses, limiting our perception.
So while there is perhaps 'permanent' places to go to like when you're astral travelling,I suppose you can also travel/project to whatever you imagine. At that's how I understand it.

To me the idea that you are just a drop returning to an ocean feels natural. By this I mean if there is an afterlife you will probably lose your identity while merging with the whole or the "one". Reincarnation and afterlives are not real. The body is a vessel for consciousness and once the body is gone so is the consciousness associated with it, FOREVER. I base my views upon what different people say about their near death experiences, astral travelling and similar. When you have hundreds or thousands of similar stories it would be dumb to dismiss it for whatever sceptical reason. It's the best evidence we've got and I don't know how else you'd prove it unless you invent some technology.

No clue. The closest I ever got was a coma dream while brain dead. I was in a large black room with a building sized gate in front of me. As I went to push the gate open, I was pushed backwards instead. Standing even taller than the gate was a feathered snake that absolutely eclipsed the huge gate. But if you've ever been unconscious, like knocked out from a bump to the head, then you know that there's nothing when the brain is turned off. If the mind was separate from the body then when someone is unconscious they would still be able to think, but instead it's just nothingness

This isn't your first life and won't be your last, the "afterlife" is very big with many possibilities and many lives you still have yet to live. I think of life as asymptotic. The moment of death is infinite.

I had a near death experience when I was young. Decades later, I had a bad seizure. Both felt very similar for what it’s worth, almost as if every part of me existed simultaneously. There was no separation between me as a fetus and me as a 36yo. I was pure electrical energy, not a corporeal being. It was beautiful and humbling.

Because of course time is irrelevant in the afterlife. There’s no passing on but rather a grand stretching out.

From what I gather it works like this.
After we die we go to an abstract place where you don't really give a fuck about anything and you just exist as part of the greater consciousness and feel good.
Since we don't have a brain to categorize information, it all exists at the same time in that oneness.
Everything about the ego falls off and only a fundamental part of self exists and you don't give a shit about any of this earth stuff. It's like post nut clarity.
I don't subscribe too much of the concept of humanity into afterlife, as we're not limited by our bodies. Why would you see like on earth, if you're not limited by two forward facing biological cameras?
I don't believe that there's an afterlife where you exist in a human form and hang out with your dead relatives and see them as they used to be on earth and so forth.
That's unless that's something your fundamental self needs to experience in order not to freak the fuck out about being dead, but I think that experience might just be generated bullshit by your higher self to keep you calm.

But then at some point you either get bored and want to experience more things yourself or someone tells you to go back.
I'm more fascinated about how things work in that middle point, where you're looking at new place to be born into and all of that jazz.
That seems like a point where we resemble our earth forms more in terms of thinking and ego, so it's likely a step or two below the source consciousness.

I know some things about "heaven" (because I'm an angel).
It's basically a field of light, boundless, flowing, in perfect harmony. There are no things, no "me" and "you" in a physical way. Not even time as we perceive it on Earth. It's a balanced state of existence without any problems or desires. It's the ultimate relaxation.
But, it's not necessarily like this for the humans in heaven. It can be a scenery, like a virtual reality, with any form and shape. Humans can have physical form there, they can eat and drink and have sex, it can be a beach with palms, a paradise garden, a golden castle...and the souls of the humans can control this reality, they can change their bodies and whatever they want. It's like a perfect dreamworld that is never ending. No sickness, no aging, no troubbles.
Also spiritual masters are there for the souls who want to develop further with meditation or such.
