>Every night, you die.

You close your eyes, and the world fades away. Your body grows heavier, your consciousness dilutes. Then, in a thick darkness, something else takes over. Another "me." A dreamer. An entity living in a world made of symbols, distorted memories, pure sensations. Sometimes human, sometimes animal, sometimes dead. And each time you wake up, you come back different, even if you act as if nothing happened.

The ancients conceived of dreams as astral travel. The soul escapes, tasting other existences in parallel worlds. It's not just poetry. Sleep is a transformation. When you sleep, you are no longer what you think you are.

People bring back memories of lives they never lived. Languages they don't speak, but understand in their dreams. Cities that don't exist here, but to which they return every night as if they were home.

Sleep is a temporary death. A mini-reincarnation. Each dream is a parallel life. Each awakening, a partial amnesia. What you call "you" is only a selection of memories among thousands.

>You are not immortal.
>You are reset every night.

what about dreams where you wake up in the same room that you fall asleep in and do things as if you are awake? Explain those dreams. My brother doesn't dream of anything besides waking up as if hes waking up for the day and then he wakes up for real.

This type of dream is called a false awakening, an illusion in which the mind perfectly simulates the moment of waking up, sometimes multiple times in a row. It's a phenomenon related to partial consciousness during REM sleep: the brain thinks it's awake, but is still trapped in the dream. It's like a simulation of reality... within a dream.

It all depends on what your mind cultivates while awake. Some slide into bliss, others into oblivion, but each night, dreams reveal the world you truly envision.

i know what it is but why does he dream it every day? and he doesn't dream it multiple times in a row, i've asked him about it. He also claims that he'll be in the dream for what seems like 5 hours before waking up as well just doing his normal routine of eating breakfast, drinking his coffee, playing games on his phone, and then he wakes up and does it all over again. He says he doesn't mind it either, he prefers these dreams over the nightmares he use to get.

Hey, it's fascinating what you're saying about your brother. This recurring dream where he lives his routine could be a way for his mind to find a stable refuge after his nightmares. The fact that he stays in it for a long time shows that it must really be giving him something, like a reassuring cocoon. Do you know if he ever tries to change or understand this dream? It could be a good way for him to explore what's going on in his head.

Hi, from what you're saying, these long, repetitive dreams could be like a kind of "nightly reincarnation" where his mind goes back every night into a new parallel life, a way to rebuild himself and escape nightmares. It's a cycle that probably brings him comfort and mental stability. The fact that he keeps the same routine shows that his brain is trying to control his inner world to protect itself. It's a kind of signal that sleep is not just rest, but also rebirth.

oh I already know whats going in his head, he hates change, it took him 15 years to even switch to windows 10 and it took extreme measures of steam not supporting windows 7 anymore. He hates any form of change unless it completely uproots his daily life.

what I don't understand about it is i'm the same to an extent, I do the same stuff every day but my dreams are always different and the times when I wake up in my bedroom I know its a dream and I take advantage of it and go exploring in the dream world.

no, i told you why you should follow your brother's lead and accept his insight as your own, but you prefer to think delusion makes you special
which, well, is actually canonically true so like, good job on defeating me, my King!
