Wrong, they just reoriented their sense of shame to other things.

Same thing as what happens when people get old. Just stop giving a fuck.

Fair warning though, there's a reason why old people run out of fucks to give. It's an important survival instinct, and a lack of fuck-giving leads people to take more risks and lead themselves and others into danger. It's not actually recommended.

That said... lessening one's anxiety a bit is still good.

paradoxically you have to recognize that you actually have done your best so far up to this instance of consciousness. what else were you possibly doing besides the best you could? now you are free and can be informed by your clean conscience

So like, go inna book store, and steal comics shamelessly, it's ez, they're cheap, and somehow unless collector items, the police wont press much.
Go fleece these bastards, you're trying to be proficient and direct. There's a thrill to not getting caught with bare minimum effort.

A feeling that arises when one believes their actions/ideas/etc. are incorrect, and that compels someone to hide said acts/ideas/etc. from others or to attempt deception about them.

Crowley lost long before that, he was a seriously traumatized man from childhood onwards.
He internalized his trauma as his identity, and then proceeded to misrepresent real religious texts through his Satanistic idealism.
