I know the Fae/Nymphs are seen as dangerous but if I leave them random gifts just out of cordiality without expectation of anything is that safe in and of itself?

I'm going on a trip soon to clean up a riverbank that a bunch of assholes have dumped garbage into for years and I'd like to be in their good graces and if I'm being honest the idea of interacting with a real fairy or water spirit is tempting despite the stories I've heard. I don't want to get spirited away and riverbanks themselves are known for such things especially around dusk. Even writing about this fills me with some anxiety. I know to avoid wearing bright colors or jewelery but I've almost been lured away once as a teenager (While camping in a redwood forest I felt the almost undeniable urge to walk down a forest path back to town at dusk because I had forgotten an item and it was like I was temporarily mad and not in control of my actions. Something wanted me to leave the safety of my friends and the camp around twilight

I dunno how to describe it but it felt like the part in Ocarina Of Time where you enter the Forest Temple for the first time or the movie Spirited Away only more disorienating/manic

You don't have to worry about danger unless you are trespassing in their domain. They won't target you for cleaning a riverbank.

I've found my share of forest gifts while cleaning. No real danger at all (though I tend to spook critters by being to quiet). Got a ancient stone knife once. I tend to just get the urge to go into the woods off trail every once and a while. Usually come and go alone and always make it back without getting lost.

Stay hydrated, watch out for currents, shafts and cliffsides. Pack in and pack out. Don't get scared, fear attracts the bad guys. Just be calm and at peace. Want to sleep under a tree with nothin but a jacket? Ask God for a pillow, I found one out in the woods. Smelled like vanilla, still got it. Simple as that.

I ain't got nothin to fear.
