It’s just a system of controlling people like every government, religion and corporation.
It’s mostly just to keep them busy. Think about if you were some fat wealthy old person you owned a couple businesses that don’t need to do much except look at the books. Spanking other grown man and molesting children in a club becomes like a past time. And then they can mix in a couple esoteric truths with silly rituals, and they feel accomplished.
