>good and evil are a fundamental duality
>therefore we should worship fire and feed our dead to the birds and do a lot of witchcraft and astrology

They basically invented monotheism. However, that might not be a totally good thing. Many cultures saw it as a good thing, hence the wide array of monotheistic cultures.

I was raised a monotheist but I’ve never thought to worship a campfire or put on silly robes and chant myself into a trance to divine the future…
What I’m getting at is their mythos doesn’t seem to explain their practices

its a fundamental truth filtered through the human psyche into a bunch of forms that are comprehensible to it, a bunch of rituals which are physical actions that you can understand consciously and drive subconscious processes. the mistake it makes is worshipping the duality itself and seeing "at it" and not "through it"
duality is true in the sense that there is entropic, chaotic forces and structuring forces. this is also true of the human psyche as it is "evil" animalistic and entropic forces of desire which is fueled by primordial instincts and also structuring, positive forces that battle with the former.
satan/god dichotomy came from zoroastrianism partially and is the same truth. the daoist ying/yang concept is also this truth but less anthropomorphized and makes a little more rational sense. baphomet is not actually le devil as the symbol has been misused by satanist retards but is also actually just a representation of this principle. the important thing is, god/ahura mazda's victory is inevitable. not in the sense that one force is destroyed and the other prevails, but that the two are reconciled into one whole being. marriage fundamentally is the concept of two opposing forces being paired with one another into one whole figure and completing each other. that's why for instance christian theosis is symbolized as a marriage with god and man as weird and gay as that concept sounds on the surface level

i can tell you were raised protestant/nondenom by your inability to grasp why religions practice rituals. i'd like to point out that american protestantism is a consumerist and deviant form of religion as most monotheists and other religions practice ritual. there's an incredibly important reason for ritual practice thats lost on american protestants because what they think is religion is really just theology, apologetics, and polemics. your entire faith has to do with arguing over a text and doesn't require you to take direct action to connect with god/diety. that's why it looks so weird and foreign to you when other religions do it.

The Methodist conception of Christian living is to embody “Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.” and “Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.” in every moment of our lives and in all our thoughts and words and deeds. It doesn’t take bowing to statues or praying to the dead to be saved. It takes faith, and faith lived leads to a good moral life.

Checked, but you proved their point. They never said ritual is needed to be saved.
And the fact that you immediately went to that shows they were 100% right - you have no ability to grasp the meaning and purpose of ritual.

>a lot of witchcraft

There was a faction of the Magi who seem to have worshiped Ahriman and who were notorious for their sorcery and infernal activities. They were hunted and expelled by orthodox Zoroastrians and became refugees in the west.

They are the first historically documented cult that openly worshiped the Devil as such. They may also have been the source of the Roman Cult of Mithra that Nero was initiated into, the very prototype of the antichrist...

>The Denkart• distinguishes three forms of Iranian religion. The first isyatiikih or 'sorcery', a sect which conceives of the Creator as purely maleficent; the second is dusiimoc-"denih,' 'the religion of false doctrine', and this sect conceives of the Creator as both beneficent and maleficent; the third is the den i miizdesn, 'the religion of the worshipers of Mazda or Ohrmazd', and regards the Creator as purely beneficent and exempt from all evil, inclining men to goodness and wisdom. It is a remarkable fact that the doctrine of the 'sorcerers' of the Avesta and Pahlavi books agrees in many respects with that ascribed to the Magians by many Greek and Latin writers. Plutarch, in a famous passage from 'the de iside,• writes that Zoroaster, the Magus, taught men to sacrifice to Oramazes (Obrmazd) offerings of vows and thanksgiving, and to Areimanios (Ahriman) offerings of gloom to avert evil.'Pounding in a mortar a herb called omomi,' they invoke Hades• and the darkness; then mixing it with the blood of a slaughtered wolf, they carry it off to a sunless place and cast it away.'

The perverted, devilish, unrighteous rite of the 'mystery of the sorcerers' consists in praising Ahriman, the destroyer, in prowling around in great secrecy, in keeping home, body, and clothes in a state of filthiness and stench, in smearing 'the body with dead matter and excrement, in causing discomfort to the gods and JOY to the demons, in chanting services to the demons and calling on them by name as befits their activity, in the worship of the demons and false religion, in thinking in accordance with the Evil Mind, in false speech and unrighteous action- the disreputable sorcerers and villains- and in all else that befits the devilish and is far from the godly.
