Let me tell you a joke God told me which I find good and funny: -If you'd have just quit smoking weed when I asked you the first time, you'd have gotten the privilege back after 2 days-

This was a joke I received tonight after finally listening to God's calling after 3 months to stop smoking. 2 days after stopping, he has relieved the pressure on my heart. And thusly, I smoked tonight for the first time in 3 days.

So, don't be like me. If you hear his calling away from something, follow it. I found out I need to take regular breaks to balance my life with the benefits of a completely sober mind, as well as the benefits that thc provides as a tool.

To anyone with a spiritual calling who does smoke or drink, or do anything else for that matter. Quit smoking from time to time, as well as anything else that sets your mind differently. Become completely sober. Especially if you feel stuck right now, god has gifted you the ability to be sober minded for a reason. Don't take it as a for granted gift to be sober minded.

No. Most mystics throughout time were not sober. Most religious people throughout time were no sober (Scottish Monks are a cool example). Most people you are working with are rampant drug users (caffeine, alcohol). I would argue most of humanities greatest works of art come from non sober states of being. Even Catholics like Aquinas and Teresa of Avila, who were sober, reached enhanced states through taking their body to near death through fasting which indues a mystical experience. And we now know the body increases DMT production near death. Sobriety serves one purpose, to make you a better, more predictable worker to enrich the capitalist sitting at the head of the pile.
