Photons only go one speed. So if they gain or lose energy, it goes into their vibration. So if a photon is coming toward you over a long distance, the vibrations seem to come at a greater frequency, which makes them seem more blue than they are.
If going away, they seem to drop frequency, and shift toward red.

It's not so much the frequency as the energy contained within the frequency (speed of light). When you see color, you see wavelength, or amount of energy contained within the vibration. The peak to trough distance of the wave is larger but the number of waves per second is the same. You nailed everything else. I only responded to you because you aren't a complete moron like OP.

When you realize that gravity is just electromagnetic fields converging/diverging (which is why gravity works a lot like a magnet, durr), then the whole photon debacle starts to make sense. We made the mistake of thinking that gravity was some extra curricular force on top of all the other forces. It's not. It's a product of EM waves charging bodies like magnets and then making them do the disco.
