What does /x/ recommend for me to get into meditation? My friends say it helps them out and to try it but haven't given me much to go on.

just a heads up, you're gonna get a lot of conflicting answers. I'm still trying to find the optimal way, if such a way exists

use the technique of "allotment"

take just 10mins or so a day and work towards it every single day, if you miss a day, not that misses day and make up its time on a later day

I personally prefer what I call the way of the body: sit everyday and in the first month or so just focus on straightening your spine, then spend another month staying still in that straight possition and relaxing all the muscles in your body, after that focus on making your breathing slow and deep.

It takes tons of practice, you may need to do it at least for an hour per day but the way of the body works: you will be able to enter deep meditative states which are hard to describe with words.

Why do you address us as a whole as if we'd all give the same answer?

Don't bother. Meditating is just a gay form of psychedelics.
Take acid if you want your perceptual limiter removed.

Practice with Gateway Experience techniques by Robert Monroe. You can find audio tapes online. It’s guided meditation paired with binaural audio in the background to synchronize your brain hemispheres. Meditative states are described as Focus 10, Focus 12, Focus 15, and so on.. I did it for a couple weeks, practicing Focus 10 mainly. I got good at entering this state rather quickly and I started getting exotic closed eye visuals. One time I heard a female voice go “Hey!”

The purpose for this is not solely to meditate. It’s to change your brainwaves to synchronize with the natural electrical field encompassing the planet and even beyond. In doing so, you can project your conscience at will as an antenna of sorts to perceive things far beyond what you would be able to normally.

It's still meditation, and it's a good thing to do along with the silent observer letting the thoughts pass by style. The thinking style meditation is like organizing your mind.

“This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.” (Joshua 1:8)

The non-moral aspects of the law you can safely ignore, given we are under grace, but the rest's still very good meditation material.
