>>40629325 (OP)* write more. not just comments but journaling, fiction, taking notes on stuff you're reading, making to-do lists, etc. if you do make a comment don't dumb yourself down for the sake of people not being able to read more than a paragraph
* read more. try to stay away from social media (even 4chan) because it makes the instant gratification problem worse, since you can just scroll until you get the dopamine hit. if you do, try to focus it to useful stuff that is enlightening and not just dipshits bickering over dumb shit. if you must do that, then engage in debate to sharpen your wits i guess
* audiobooks are a good place to start if you feel like your attention-span is too shot to read, but i do encourage actually reading once you're able because it's easy to zone out while someone is reading to you.
* get good sleep, good hydration. make sure your vitamins are good, there's a lot of issues that can cause brain fog, which is easy to ignore when you've dealt with it for a long time. low b vitamins affect cognition. try to go on walks.
* make it fun. i like playing games that help with cognition. mostly i do tetris now because i'm lazy but i remember when i was younger i'd fuck around on luminosity a lot, or brain age/big brain academy or whatever the fuck. this would be a good place to throw in some math, bc i imagine it's hard to regularly work math into your daily routine
* meditation. if you can't 'quiet your mind', that's okay, it takes practice. even just laying there for five minutes is a good start.
* work with your instant gratification problems. rewarding yourself is a good thing and has been shown to be a lot more effective than overdoing it with discipline. maybe you have to take a five minute fuck-off break every ten minutes, it's better than just fucking off for 12 hours a day. i have abysmal dopamine levels but pride myself on powering through them, a lot of how i do it is being lenient with myself when i'm at my most reluctant.
