I've been trying to astral project these last few days now with no luck. Every time I've tried, I've only woken up in the middle of the night having nightmare hallucinations while awake (last night it was like the walls of my room faded into darkness at a certain distance and within that darkness was a black mass that looked like a bunch of those black 40 gallon trash bags covered in semen(?) and stretching around in random directions). I believe I've almost achieved AP once, but every other time I've intentionally tried has led to something like that happening. My intention is to speak to God for personal reasons, because I haven't been able to feel a spiritual connection to him my whole life despite trying to. Does anyone have any experience with this personally or any similar advice?

Imagine a fragmentary photon inside an electron inside an atom inside a molecule inside a white blood cell in your little toe trying to talk to you. I don't mean this to sound like I'm trying to put God to a test because I know that's wrong and I cannot rightly criticize God, but I do find it odd how God wouldn't desire to talk to somebody who's actively attempting to reach out to him (even if it's in the wrong form like both of you are saying).

I obviously sound ignorant or dumb saying this, but I genuinely don't understand how prayer works. I wasn't raised to believe in God despite my father working for the Anglican church before I was born because he didn't want to force any sort of views onto us. Unfortunately that now means that I'm trying to form a spiritual connection with somebody who I've never met before. Because of all that, prayer feels more like very wishful begging with all of those wishes simply being to get through to the other end of the line.

Now prayer isn't necessarily the exact same for everyone. Just be honest with God and talk to Him with either your lips or your mind, to put it somehow. God will make Himself known to you if you truly desire Him.

I think I had one once, but it wasn't as vivid as a lot of people say they should be. I did walk into my bathroom, where a mirror normally was, and I simply wasn't there.

My experience had other things that were different from physical reality. My bathroom sink was covered in oranges, which may have been my mind's way of interpreting the orange hard water deposits on the vanity. The window was also slightly misaligned with what was outside, as if my house was slightly tilted or shifted along where it normally is. It lasted only about 10 seconds before I lost consciousness and woke up a couple hours later.

I think this can vary for people though. Since the astral plane is a bunch of concepts that your brain has to reconstruct in a way that makes sense to you, things are going to appear slightly different from person to person. They will also be slightly different from physical reality, because not all of that information is being transferred.

There are a variety of implications depending on the answer. I also considered asking to look at yourself while astral projecting, but without meaning the physical body. Although even that might simply result in some oddities, like trying to count your own fingers while lucid dreaming.

I had suggested I could use assistance to no one in particular and Aphrodite showed up in my mind's eye. I think she said a few things in the early days but since then it's just bodily sensations. She hears me and answers questions. This isn't advice because the circumstances were unusual and rare.
