i like this post but it ignores that neo is the memetic virus
he is the anomaly
basically everything ran smoothly within the matrix "mathematical harmony" but neo he was is the chaos factor and no matter what they did to stop him he would always reanimate
which shows neo isnt a person a person couldnt live as long as neo would have had to to restart the matrix over and over again evolving it each time
neo is an archetype a product of the matrix as all personalities are
the matrix decides what language you speak what race you are what sights you see friends you make stories you have it basically chooses your thoughts and fate for you but neo gets choice
the choice
to become the leader of the new zion after the last falls or not
the not is how neo ends the endless cycles and becomes one with the matrix

neo is the one
and the one will always be as the one isnt a person but an archetype that many become
and reality can never get rid of the one no matter how hard they it tries as the one is reality at its core a byproduct of it it needs to exists

just watched the scenes again as its been years but how it was presented to neo is that
the only way they found that humans would accept the matrix is if at atleast some subconscious level they where able to choose to be there or not
this choice is what leads to Zion the rejection of the Matrix
from Zion comes Neo who is the beginning and end of Zion
as he restarts the domino/butterfly effect that leads to his rebrith through the infinite war which is just a play of the machines that repeats over and over again
but he also has the choice not to which the machines present as ending all of humanity
but really it leads to neo becoming one with the machines to end the cycles of war
i forget how it does that though so ill have to rewatch
