How do Christians say “God has a plan for your life” like it’s supposed to be reassuring? Why do kids die of cancer? It doesn’t seem like there was a plan, or at least a good plan.

What I want to know is is if a man who would've reached old age repented but died before he could, does God still judge him as if he wouldn't have.

There are infact many higher tiers. Would you, for instance, rank Dostoevsky alongside these imbeciles?

It’s not soccer mom Christianity, you hear literally everyone say “God has a plan for your life.” but it’s implied as being a plan you’ll like and agree with. But like I mentioned, dying in a car accident or dying from cancer is not necessarily a plan you’d agree with or get inspired by.

So I find this phrase really not assuring and worthless.

I suppose the idea is not to worry as its out of your hands anyway.
It's like that scene in the 13th warrior when they're waiting for the monsters to attack and one of the vikings tell Antonio Banderas there's no reason to be afraid as the Allfather already wrote their fates long ago.

They don't. Don't confuse the simulation with reality.

>like it’s supposed to be reassuring?
It is to them. It reassures them that "someone" bigger and smarter than them is in control and it's all going to be ok in the end.

Having a somewhat complicated relationship with that spirit, it's not entirely untrue. He's just a little too fond of tough love for my taste

>Why do kids die of cancer?
Why do babies die in the womb? Maybe you have a fundimental misunderstanding of things? The game doesn't end when you die, or when you suffer beyond your ability to cope. It just enters a new phase.

>or at least a good plan
He would disagree, but he's just as human as we are in his own way. We made him in our image, after all.

And yet a child dying of cancer is only tragedy IF God exists.

If atheism is true then it's just matter. Objects moving through space. A baby dying is a comparable event to a tree being truck by lightning.

>Why do kids die of cancer?
Because this is a fallen world ruled by Satan.
Satan even offers Jesus this world and Jesus says no.
We HAD Eden but threw it away. Now we lived in a fallen state until Christ raises us up and creates the new Earth which He will then rule.

We live in a sinful world, with real repercussions.

We ourselves have polluted the planet, poisoned the air and water, pumped the food chain full of cytotoxic chemicals, pesticidies, herbicides, and we eat artificial preservatives, sweetners, flavourings etc etc etc.

God didn't design any of this, God didn't intend a child to die of cancer. Man has done this, and even worse man can stop it, because according to you - in a world where God doesn't exist and in which case the science tells us all this stuff is bad for us, and is giving our children cancer - we still don't make the changes we need to make in order to prevent it.

Don't blame God for the evil of man; man who knows good but continues doing evil.

In my interpretation of the Bible, such evils happen because we learned good and evil. However, I feel that our potential for good can win evil at a huge margin with time, eventually leading to the thing you mentioned and others ceasing to exist. Evading the Bible, eternal souls in everyone and everything also help to cope with such things.
