There is sadly a Cancer only fire fighters seem to get and they get it on average in their mid 60s. its why they want to have firefighters retire at 50.
I had some family members who were firefighters and back in the 1960s and 70s it was mostly wood and drywall. the worst thing they breathed in was Astbestos which also caused early death for them. But today there is so many plastics and weird composited materials that being a fire fighter will most likely cause multiple forms of lung diseases which often lead to kidney, liver and brain cancer as well
If you get a job in California like San Francisco I think the starting pay is 6 figures
save your money, do it for 5 years to lessen the destruction and live out of your car

You know the risks involved.
After that it's time for you to make a decision.
Whether the world is giving you clear signs or not doesn't matter now.
What matters is that It's up for you to decide whether you'll take on that role or not.
Either way, just follow your heart and whatever decision you make, make sure you make that decision without any regrets left behind.
Good luck and Godspeed, Anonymous.

Ehhh you should go into robotics. The dumbass people who rush into a fire because someone says muh baby is in there is a tragedy to society but the careless are eating away at the fearless. No one should ever have to run into a burning building now. Anyone of any sound intelligence will do what is common knowledge.

I don't know but if you have enough common sense to doubt yourself in spite of the people around you pressuring you to do a dangerous job then I would say you're already partially qualified. It's normal to be anxious about dangerous situations. Calmness doesn't come from destiny, it comes from knowledge balanced with humility. You seem to be knowledgeable enough to see that fighting fires would be highly beneficial to both you and your community, and you're humble enough to hesitate before going down that path. You have what it takes, and now it's up to you.

If that desire has been with you for a long time, then yes. Contemplate the negatives and if it still doesn't go away you have to do it.

Do something no AI or robot will be able to do any time soon. LIke being a plumber.
