I’ve tried meditating, but whenever something unusual happens, like a loud bang, a strange voice, the feeling that something is nearby, or unusual visuals in my mind’s eye, I immediately open my eyes and snap out of the meditative state.

Unironically methylene blue and psilocybin stack. Both improve brain function and heal brain damage or trauma

Yeah. 20 years of mindfulness and sitting in isolation like Tibetan monks. Or you can grow some shrooms and get there faster

Just realize that you did not always exist. There was a time when the world existed, other people existed, but not yet you, and that situation was exactly the same as when you will die. Then you existed. And one day, you will just fall asleep but forever, and the situation will be the same as before you existed, the world will be there, other people will be there, you won't.
Also realize that dying is exactly like falling asleep except you won't wake up. You don't fear falling asleep, do you?
Of course, according to your religious belief and stuff you may not believe me.

>I’ve tried meditating
Then you're doing it wrong. All that meditation requires is acceptance of the current moment. This seems to be an alien concept to most people when they first meditate, including myself, possibly because we naturally spend every waking moment consciously and unconsciously struggling to define ourselves by our aspirations and anxieties.

These are called hypnogogic hallucinations. They typically happen when a person falls asleep while feeling anxious. I once worked at an animal shelter and soon after I started the job I heard dogs barking every time I was falling asleep. I've also experienced hypnogogic hallucinations while meditating, in one instance repeatedly slipping into a particular dream scenario and waking up in my bedroom until I finally fell asleep and continued the dream.

Read lots of Near Death Experience reports, and watch some Swedenborg videos on youtube.
Should switch your mindset to looking forward to the afterlife, and how you can go about preparing for it in this material world.

The best feeling is when meditating and you end up falling asleep within a dream and continue meditating within the dream
