I think it's important to understand what the point of the text is. I think the points of Adam and Eve probably have more to do with taking personal responsibility and indicating our authority over the animals rather than providing a literal chronological order to creation.

In case it seems like performing mental gymnastics here, I just want to make clear that the case made for Christianity has nothing to do with any particular interpretation for Adam and Eve. It has all to do with the historical Jesus, if which the evidence is more clear that it *seems* like he performed miracles and rose from the dead. And the conflicting reports only help this case, as it indicates they were written independently, hence the need for secular scholars to invent Q gospel.
