Are their negatives tied to cremation vs a traditional burial? I have talked with others are 'natural burials' as better options, I personally don't see it that way. I sound like a pussy, but I will admit I have a fear of death and rotting in the ground. Cremation seems like a middle finger I can wave at nature, because I don't want to be soil food and rot and grow mold all over my corpse. The counter argument is that you are dead, why should it matter? Matters to be because I hate not having control in life. While my death is inevitable in the future, I have a choice on what at least happens to my remains. If natural burial is your thing, all power to you. I hate this new age bullshit of surrendering to nature. In life you gradually lose everything, leading up to the loss of your body and mind. Why do I need to let go of my ego? That is me and I want a future where "me" is existing. So after my body is gone, my ego is just going to die? Whether you're spiritual or a physicalist, it seems our destiny is to cease being. Even if there is an afterlife, it will not be what I want.

I already told my family that I want to be cremated. If aliens come in a few hundred years I don't want them to find a buried box with a hideous dry leathery corpse in it, I would rather them find a cool jar. Same thing with natural disasters like floods and stuff; I don't want to end up as a soggy corpse on some poor sucker's front lawn, I'd rather be in a jar with a tag or something that can be easily reburied if they find where I belong.

Here's a pretty good case against cremation from an Orthodox perspective. He's a bit long-winded so maybe start near the halfway point. He also gives tips on avoiding expensive burial costs. Burying a person in the ground should cost next to nothing not 12 thousand dollars. Spoiler - The jews know how to do this. Point's out stats and trends, basically cremation is the way of the NPC that holds no sanctity for life.

Also watch out for technological necromancy and gene theft. Burning is the way to go, a goddess even told me.
