How do one distinguishes actually good spiritual/occult/magical texts from bullshit?
Is only reading the traditional stuff from centuries or even millenia ago the way to go?

There isn't some kind of method that works for everyone. You have to read a lot, think a lot, and pray that God opens your mind to understanding. Then you verify your theories through practice. And if you keep doing this and learning from your mistakes, eventually you'll develop some real knowledge which will enable you to distinguish the fakes from the ones who know what they're talking about.
