I'm a formerly devout Catholic and I was wondering where to start with learning magick?
Mostly looking for something for personal power as I intend to use it to benefit me politically.

Basically anything. Chaos magick is good for beginners. If you still have Catholic mindset then you can try Enoch. Google about types and choose what seems the most appealing to you.
Basically fuck around and find out

Start out with the Golden Dawn material and stick with Waite and Dion Fortune โ€” stay away from Crowley, youโ€™re simply not ready for him! There is older material in Christian-like Medieval magic grimiories โ€”, use Wizardforums.com!

Let's say you would sit down with a demon for a business talk. He usually deals with very rich and powerful people. You want dark magic powers...what could you offer him for that?
