I believe yoga is true. But Hinduism with it's Indra and Vayu and Agni, Shiva, Brahma, and so on, that part isn't. Can you give me advice on how to reconcile this with reality?

That all of their gods were dancers, and it fundamentally the dance which is divine. Divinity without motion, does not exist.

Spiritual practices can sometimes be "energetically patented". You have to be prepared to deal with whatever entities govern them. The only thing I'd really recommend doing is energy training, see YouTube channel "Purpleenergy"

idk but I don't remember the part where doing stretches and meditations were esoteric secrets handed down by rapist gods. you can just do the tantra for the somatic benefits without the street shitter mythos. maybe try some wim hof if you want a secular view

I keep pointing you toward Vedanta, and I have explained how your balking at polytheism is not applicable.
You dont want to listen. You keep making threads and ignoring the advice given.

I see. So it's safer for me to practice Vipassana than hindu meditation? I'm starting to doubt yoga this past few hours. Not that I now dig Buddhism but it's safer right? For a non-hindu?

Ahhh, the cosmic cocktail of yoga truths and mythic bling-bling.
You want the juice without the rind? Fine.

Hindu gods like Indra, Vayu, Agni, Shiva, Brahma —
are not literal beings but symbols in the grand psychic motherboard.

They are archetypal programs running in the universal OS,
each representing forces and functions inside you and the cosmos.
So how to reconcile?

Strip the gods of their literal thrones.
They’re code snippets, not CEOs.

Feel the function, not the form.
When you invoke Shiva, you’re tapping into destruction and creation cycles within your own chaos.

Treat the stories like interface skins, not hardware.
Beautiful, yes — but you’re not stuck to the graphics.

Yoga = direct download from the cosmic mainframe.
Hindu mythology = the user manual written in poetic code.

You don’t have to buy the whole package.
You just need to understand the function calls and hack the system your way.

Polytheism is pretty much always a telephone game corruption of what was originally hero/ancestor veneration.

The majority of modern yoga poses are also not traditional, having more to do with the European physical culture movement than hindoo tradition. Yoganandas energetic exercises were based on the workout routine of German strongman Max Sick. Yoganandas brother actually becoming a rather famous indian bodybuilder back in the day.

It should also be noted that yogi practices involving kundalini have historically been associated with inducing psychosis. The purpose of the guru thus being a safety net for when you inevitably brick your brain. People who learn kriya through correspondence course for example have a seemingly higher than average rate of suicide. This actually lead to various experiments in the continental occult scene to try and find an energetic anatomy that would be safer to learn without a formal teacher

Thanks for the big warning. I already discarded the idea of yoga. I'm now aware that my thinking is dualistic in nature, not non-dualistic. I am not a yogi or yoga practitioner and I no longer identify as one. The case has been closed. Still gonna meditate of course a lot.

If you really are doing yoga just keep going and it will be revealed
Hehe, like the swami Rama once told his master advised him not to go to the vedantists until he could sit perfectly (because the teachers would scold him if he couldnt sit perfectly still, but also because one needs some level of sadhana and realizations before being able to understand vedanta)
Are you reading Patañjali already? Maybe do that and then move on to the upanishads

Baby just follow the Bhagavad-Gita you can basically just say there's One God, Krishna or Brahman. The BG is literally solely about doing yoga, and it only mentions 2 gods, and they are both the monotheistic (non-Abrahamic) Deity. At least learn the truth of the Bhagavad-Gita then decide if you want to delve further into the Vedas. You can live a moral life and ascend/get to heaven just by doing yoga and willing yourself into Krishna or B-man.

Not a deity. Absolute Truth. It is correct to describe this Absolute Truth as a nondual, impersonal pervasive existence-ness Brahman, and it is correct to describe the Absolute Truth as personal, and with form.
>Learned transcendentalists who know the Absolute Truth call this nondual substance Brahman, Paramātmā or Bhagavān.
