One night around 11 PM, the power went out. We didn’t worry—just went to bed. But something strange happened: each time someone entered their room, lights flickered. By morning, nothing worked.
I live abroad with two roommates, Jeremy and Aaron. We called our landlord—he said the generator was fine. But as night crept in, dread slithered with it. I hate the dark.
Everyone else had power. Only we were cut off.
We went to a café to shake it off. Met a guy named Luke. Too quiet. Eyes empty. We grabbed burgers—he followed. Sat apart. Watched.
Back home, we saw him again—by the house next door. He didn’t belong there.
Later, across the street. Watching. Grinning. That grin… too wide. Wrong.
We confronted him—he vanished. Then reappeared. Closer. Still smiling.
We ran to a 24/7 donut shop. At the light—there he was. Staring. Unblinking.
The cashier said his name was Connell, a harmless homeless man. We said Luke. The man’s smile... warped. Teeth wrong. Same smile.
Said Connell stalked him too—but smiled as he said it.
We ran. He followed.
Drove ‘til the tank died. Slept in the car.
At dawn, we called for a tow. Looked out.
Luke and the donut guy stood there. Closer. Grinning.
We begged the driver: get us home. We thought locks would save us.
But our home was... erased. Every dish, chair, photo—gone. Like we never existed.
That night, I couldn’t sleep. Watched shadows stretch across the walls.
At midnight, I woke.
The window lock was gone.
Luke stood there.
Smiling.
We ran. Left it all behind.
Haven’t seen them since. It’s been over a year.
We live in a crowded place now. I want to believe it’s over.
But I know better.
They’re still out there.
Maybe not watching us...
But someone.
Take care.
I’m Mike. First and last post.
If anything happens, I’ll update.
God help me if it does.
